Web Page Design Tips
- Important Infomation On The Top
- The people that visit your page won't want to read a page or so to find what their looking for.
- Good Navigation
- Make it easy for people to find what they're looking, if they cant find it on your site they'll look somewhere else.
- Don't Make Pages To Long
- You shouldn't make any of your pages more than 2-3 page lenght, try breaking long peices of text into sections over different pages.
- Fast Loading Pages
- People will go straight for the back button if your page takes to long to load, 20 seconds or less if you can.
- No Big Images
- Keep your images small and few, if you have to use a big image only use 1. Long load times will scare off surfers.
- No Crazy Backgrounds
- Don't use backgrounds that use a lot of different colours as they make it hard to read your text
- Contrast
- If you use a dark coloured background use a light coloured text and dark coloured text on light backgrounds.
- Spelling
- Check all your spelling, one or two mistakes are ok but more then that starts to annoy people.
- Good Design
- If you don't like the way your page looks or feels change it, if you don't think it all goes together right chances are it doesn't. I changed the look of this site 5 or more times in the first 2 weeks.
